Lady Gaga to kick off MTV Video Music Awards

Lady Gaga will give her first ever live performance of her new single ‘Applause’ when she kicks off the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Lady Gaga will open the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The 27-year-old singer has been chosen to kick off the show this Sunday (25.08.13) at 9pm with the first ever live performance of her new single ‘Applause’, from her comeback album ‘ARTPOP’.

The eccentric star is a regular at the annual event – held this year in Brooklyn, New York – having performed her hit singles ‘You And I’ and ‘Paparazzi’ in previous years.

Fans are busy speculating what bizarre get-up Gaga will wear on stage, with her clamshell bikini from the ‘Applause’ music video being a hot favourite.

The singer will be joined by the likes of Justin TimberlakeRobin ThickeMiley CyrusBruno Mars and Katy Perry at the event.

Justin has six nominations this year and is rumoured to be reuniting with his old band, *NSync, for the first time in over a decade to celebrate receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his contributions to the music industry.

Meanwhile, One Direction are due to make a ”special appearance”, and Kanye West is scheduled to make his seventh performance at the VMAs.

This year’s event also boasts a brand new category, Best Song of the Summer, with nominees including Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, Selena Gomez’s ‘Come & Get It’; One Direction‘s ‘Best Song Ever’, ‘I Need Your Love’ by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding, and Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’.

Demi Lovato Lands Glee Role Only To Be Promptly Dogged By ‘Nude Pics’ Scandal

The X Factor judge proudly announced her upcoming appearance on the musical-comedy, only to be met with rumours that her phone has been hacked and nude photos were stolen from it

Demi Lovato will continue her good relationship with Fox this fall when she appears in the network’s hit show Glee as part of a six-episode (with the potential for more) story arc. Unfortunately for the X Factor judge however, the news that she will be joining with the hit show has been overshadowed somewhat by the recent rumour that the star had her phone hacked, with the hacker finding and willing to sell nude photos of the star.

TV Line first revealed that Lovato will be appearing as Dani, a friend of Rachel and Santana who the pair know from their time in New York, on Monday (19 August). The star, who turns twenty-one today (20 August), will also feature with fellow guest-star Adam Lambert throughout her run on the show, and will feature in a number of duets together with the American Idol contestant. The news that she will be returning to acting – her first time since the Disney series Sonny With A Chance ended two years ago – was greatly overshadowed however, when Radar Online claimed to have been offered nude photos of the star for a nominal fee later the same day.

The website claim to have been offered photographs featuring a woman who looks identical to Lovato, tattoos and all, in a variety of compromising, clothes-less positions. The site chose not to publish the photos, although the alleged hacker is expected to attempt to sell his/her wares to another potential buyer.

The rumoured pics couldn’t really have come at a worse time, and may not only go on to compromise her role on Glee, but may also greatly affect her position on Fox’s other hit show; The X Factor. With the series nearing the airing of it’s next season, and with star judge and series creator Simon Cowell rocked by the news that he has fathered a child with a married woman, Lovato’s scandal may prove to be a fatal blow in the running and the success of the series.

Justin Timberlake to reunite with *NSync

Justin Timberlake will reunite with his former *NSync bandmates as he celebrates his career in music by receiving a lifetime achievement award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Justin Timberlake will reportedly reunite with *NSync at the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend.

The ‘Mirrors’ hitmaker is set to surprise audiences by inviting his former bandmates -Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick – on stage when he performs at the annual music awards ceremony on Sunday (25.08.13).

According to the New York Post newspaper, the ‘Bye Bye Bye’ group will come together for the first time in over a decade to celebrate Justin receiving the reflective Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for his contributions to the music industry.

The 32-year-old star is expected to perform some of his biggest solo hits and will also pay homage to his seven-year career with the multi-platinum selling boy band.

Ahead of their reunion, Justin’s former bandmates are said to have been seen together in the VIP area at his ‘Legends of the Summer’ concert with Jay Z in Miami last week, where they joined his wife, Jessica Biel, and mother, Lynn Harless.

*NSync launched in 1995 and enjoyed worldwide success at the height of their fame between 1998 and 2002, including a string of hits such as ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart’, ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’ and ‘Girlfriend’.

At the pinnacle of their success, the teen heartthrobs – who were created by Backstreet Boys’ manager Lou Pearlman – sold a staggering one million copies of their album ‘No Strings Attached’ in a single day.

The group quietly went on a hiatus in 2002 but never reunited.

That same year, Justin began his successful solo career with debut album, ‘Justified’.

Naomi Watts “Felt Princess Diana’s Presence” On Set

Actress Naomi Watts was so determined to channel the spirit of DianaPrincess Of Wales while shooting a new biopic, she was convinced she felt the tragic royal’s presence on set.

The actress plays the late British icon in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s upcoming movie Diana, which details the final years of the princess’ life prior to her death in a car crash in Paris, France in 1997.

Watts has already wowed critics with her haunting resemblance to Diana in the film, and now she has revealed she was so convinced the royal was watching over her, she would consult her over each scene.

The actress tells British magazine Event, “There were definitely moments when I felt Diana’s presence – I dreamed about her a lot, too, and that’s a first. I kept wondering to myself: ‘Would she have liked it?’

“So I found myself constantly asking for her permission to carry on. I had saturated myself with Diana and her life and I felt this enormous responsibility of playing this iconic woman. It felt like I was spending a lot of time with her. There was one particular moment when I felt her permission was granted. That won’t sound right in print, I know.”

Royal family releases first official portraits of Prince George

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have bypassed professional photographers and chosen family snapshots for the first official images of their new son, Prince George.

Royal officials on Tuesday released photos of Kate holding the swaddled baby while standing beside William — and in one image, the couple’s cocker spaniel, Lupo. The pictures were taken by Kate’s father, Michael Middleton, in the family’s backyard.

The casual images are a departure from the royal tradition of hiring professional photographers for baby portraits.

Professionals gave the snapshots a mixed review. Martin Keene, head of pictures at the Press Association news agency, said “any photographer would have been pleased to have taken them.” But The Sun newspaper’s veteran royal photographer, Arthur Edwards, advised Michael Middleton: “Don’t give up the day job.”
