Jackson Trial: Nephew TJ Explains His Relationship With Prince, Paris, and Blanket

How did TJ Jackson and his young cousins, the late Michael Jackson’s children Prince, Paris, and Blanket, become so close?

TJ, the 34-year-old son of Michael’s brother Tito, explained his connection with the three, whom he shares custody of with his grandmother Katherine, as he gave an emotional testimony in L.A. on Thursday.

Michael’s nephew is a witness in the wrongful death lawsuit that Michael’s mother, Katherine, and the Jackson kids have brought against concert promoter AEG Live, claiming that it was responsible for employing Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering a lethal dose of the anesthetic Propofol to Michael in 2009.

TJ said the “Beat It” singer offered support after the 1994 murder of his mother, Delores Jackson, and he wanted to repay the favor, according to the L.A. Times.

“My world crumbled and my Uncle Michael saved it,” TJ said. “He was there. He kept me inspired. Kept me ambitious and he was just there for me.”

He continued, “I don’t think I could live properly the rest of my life if I didn’t give 100 percent to my cousins if they didn’t turn out the way he wanted them to be.”

TJ also offered some insight as to how the children were affected by their father’s death.

He described 16-year-old Prince, who took the stand on Wednesday, as “my uncle’s little assistant,” he said. “He was always very mature for his age and very smart.”

When he talked about Paris, TJ confirmed what Prince said one day before, that she was the one struggling the most with the loss of her dad.

Paris “was daddy’s girl,” TJ said. “My uncle was her world. My uncle gave them more love. For it to be taken away has been very challenging for her.”

Michael’s youngest, Blanket, now 11, was always wrapped around his father, he added.

Although TJ’s made it his mission to take care of the Jackson kids, he said the trail of photographers who follow them everywhere are making it difficult.

They’re “a complete annoyance,” he said. “It’s awful and I think there should be laws against it.”

He added that, “In my opinion, I know it’s making everything harder for the kids to grieve and recover and progress.”

The king of pop’s nephew recalled that the last time that he saw his uncle was one month and 11 days before Michael’s death, at an anniversary party for his grandparents. Michael was in a happy mood.

“I wanted more kids, and he wanted more kids, so we talked about that,” TJ said. “He asked me if I was going to London and I said ‘100 percent’ and he gave me a hug.”

The Jackson trial is expected to last until August.

Glenn close to be honoured by her alma mater

Actress Glenn Close is to be honoured by her alma mater in recognition of her contribution to the arts.

The Fatal Attraction star majored in theatre at the College of William & Mary in Virginia, and chiefs at the learning establishment have unveiled her as the 2013 recipient of their Cheek Medal Award.

The actress’ biotech entrepreneur husband David Shaw will also pick up the prize in honour of his career achievements.

Close will hold a theatre master class when she accepts the award in September (13), and she is delighted to be returning to her university.

She says, “I’m thrilled to be going back to William & Mary – 39 years after graduating. And I’m very proud to be able to show my husband, David Shaw, the campus that I love so much and to be receiving the Cheek Award as a couple. What I learned at W&M has sustained me through my adult life and kept me curious about many things other than my own profession. David and I are looking forward to meeting students, faculty and the community-at-large and hope we can have a fun and delicious dialogue.”

Terminator 5 set for summer 2015 release

The fate of the upcoming Terminator movie (fifth in the franchise) has been largely uncertain for the past year or so. Following the success of 2009’s Terminator: Salvation, a fifth installment was known to be in the works for a long time, even having a director attached at one point – Justin Lin, who is no longer directing it. Then the news ceased for a while, prompting questions of whether it was getting made at all. However, with the involvement of Paramount – the studio has partnered up with David Ellison’s Skydance Pictures and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, it looks like production has finally been kicked into gear, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So much so, in fact, that Paramount have actually announced a release date for the film – June 26 2015. This is an ambitious endeavour, considering the slew of movies also slated for a summer 2015 release – from the recently confirmed Independence Day 2, to Marvel’s Avengers 2, which we’ve known would be happening for a while now. With Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, Star Wars: Episode VII, Assassin’s Creed, Finding Dory and more coming out within that timeframe, calling it the summer of the sequels would be an understatement.

However, when Paramount got on board for the Terminator franchise, they didn’t do it halfway.Terminator 5 will not be a standalone movie or a continuation of the Salvation plot. Instead, it will be part of a brand new trilogy with a brand new story arc and, presumably, a way for Paramount to squeeze every last drop of profit from the franchise. As for the former Governator, he doesn’t seem to be too bothered about hanging up his artificial red eye and quitting the role that made him famous anytime soon.

Lady Gaga Reportedly Renting Two-Bedroom NYC Apartment for $22K a Month

The Star: Lady Gaga

The Splurge: A 1,985-square-foot apartment in Manhattan’s swanky Central Park South neighborhood

How Much: $22,000 a month

What Fellow Manhattanites Will Drool Over: The four outdoor terraces

According to Life & Style, the pop star is paying $22,000 a month for a luxurious Manhattan penthouse overlooking Central Park.

Though Lady Gaga’s publicist didn’t return omg!’s request for comment, we dug up the rental listing for the apartment, which touts a whopping four terraces, views of the park from every room, and a private staircase, all in a fancy building with a doorman, keyed elevator, and fitness center.

But if you think the 27-year-old can have tons of pals crash at her new place after a concert, well, not quite. Despite the breathtaking price, the apartment only has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. (This is New York City, after all!) There’s a guest room on the first level, and a master suite upstairs complete with a wood-burning fireplace, marble bathroom with whirlpool tub, walk-in closet, and 750 square feet of outdoor space.

It does, however, sound like the “Paparazzi” songstress can do plenty of entertaining at her new residence, since it features a sunken living room with a wall of glass looking out to the park, a chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-line, stainless steel appliances, and a dining room with attached terrace. Oh, and there’s a washer and dryer too. But we get the feeling Gaga sends all those costumes to the cleaners …

Justin Bieber Sued By Paparazzo Over 2012 Scuffle

Bieber, who? In the wake of the Paula Deen scandal, the world may have momentarily forgotten about Justin Bieber’s recent troubles, but that doesn’t mean they’ve gone away.

In fact, they’ve only gotten bigger — or, more official, at least.

On June 26, Los Angeles-based photographer Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran filed papers against the pop star for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and, to top it all off, negligence.

The lawsuit comes as the result of an alleged May 27, 2012, altercation between the Biebs and Duran. As recounted by Duran, Bieber was leaving a Calabasas movie theater with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez (who was on-again at the time) when he “physically attacked” the photog, who had been trying to get a “lawful” shot of the hot Hollywood couple.

In addition, the document, acquired by “omg! Insider,” makes more sweeping allegations that the 29-year-old icon “has demonstrated serious and worsening problems with aggression, anger management, violence, and unlawful conduct,” and claims “these issues have manifested in increasingly extreme, troubling, and dangerous episodes, often including a lack of respect for the law and the rights of others.”

The filing then cites several additional incidents that (Duran hopes) illustrate his point. Highlights include: Bieber getting pulled over by the California Highway Patrol for speeding over 100 mph; Bieber assaulting his former bodyguard; Bieber bullying a woman at the gym by spitting in her water bottle; and, last but not least, Bieber tweeting that the drummer of the Black Keys “should be slapped around.”

While we don’t condone spitting in anyone’s water bottles (ever!), and we certainly recommend keeping thoughts of slapping people out of the Twitterverse, we’re also not so sure those last two are criminal offenses.

Duran is requesting a jury trial to settle the matter. As of now, however, there are no set damages or potential trial date.

Only time will tell what the courts decide, but in the meantime, hopefully the Biebs will keep his hands, and thoughts, and spit to himself.

Alec Baldwin Deactivates Twitter Page After Rant

Alec Baldwin has deactivated his Twitter.com page following a foul-mouthed rant over allegations his pregnant wife was posting messages online duringJames Gandolfini‘s funeral on Thursday (27Jun13).

The couple paid their respects to The Sopranos star at a church in New York City, and an online report suggested Baldwin’s partner Hilaria had been tweeting throughout the service.

Initially, the former 30 Rock star brushed off the allegations by posting a simple message on the website, writing, “Someone wrote that my wife was tweeting at a funeral. Hey. That’s not true. But I’m gonna tweet at your funeral”.

However, he returned to his Twitter page later in the day to rant about the report, writing, “My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend… How much of this s**t are people supposed to take? With these f**king blatant lies every day. My wife did not use her phone, in any capacity, at our friend’s funeral. Now, f**k this Twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth.”

Baldwin’s page was then taken offline.

Hilaria attempted to explain the timing of messages which appeared on her page on Thursday, adding, “Here is some info… When someone tweets something at a certain time, and you retweet it later, it posts the time the first person tweeted.”

British album cover artist sues James Cameron over ‘Avatar’

A British artist who created fantasy landscape album covers for bands including “Yes” and “Asia” has sued director James Cameron for more than $150 million.

Roger Dean filed the lawsuit Thursday in federal court in Manhattan. He claimed his artwork was copied in the making of the 2009 film “Avatar.” Dean alleged that some Avatar production workers had studied and referenced Dean’s art as they worked on the movie. The lawsuit claimed the film copied “floating mountains,” “stone arches” and the antennae and markings on flying creatures.

The lawsuit said Dean wants some of more than $2 billion the film has earned.

Cameron lawyer Bert Fields called Cameron the “most original and creative person in the motion picture business today” and said he doesn’t need to copy from anyone.
